Our Speakers

Sunday, November 7th:  David MacPartland –David, along with his wife Paulette, joined Hollies Baptist Church in March of 2009.  His work takes him far and wide on the Shore.  People look forward to his friendly conversation and he’ll easily offer a prayer for them.   He serves on our Sound and Video each week.  We look forward to hearing the message that the Lord has laid on his heart.

 

Sunday, November 14th:  Rev. Joe Newman – Joe accepted the Free Gift of Salvation when he was 8 years old.  Joe grew up in a solid Southern Baptist household where church attendance three times a week was the norm.  He felt the Call to Preach while in College.  With all the changes in life he has worked most of his adult life self-employed in his own Financial Planning Practice.

Joe has been very active in local mission work for many years.  He served as the President of the Norfolk Area Baptist Association (Now called the Bridge Network of Churches).  Joe has served as a stand Preacher for many local churches and he has served as Bi-Vocational Pastor of two churches; The Brentwood Baptist Church near Ward’s Corner in Norfolk and the Berea Church in the Driver Section of Suffolk.

 

Sunday, November 21st: Rev. Tad Ramey, US Army Chaplain— Tad is currently serving as a US Army Chaplain at Fort Story, VA.  He surrendered to vocation ministry at 19 years old and has served many years in Student Ministry and as a Church Planting Pastor.  In 2012, he joined the Army Reserves to serve our country as a Chaplain and served 7 ½ years in the reserves, 6 of those on active duty with Special Forces.  In 2019, he moved to Regular Army.  Although, currently serving in the Army, Tad is passionate about the local church and loves serving in the church as much as possible.  He has been  married to Kathy for 24 years and they have 3 sons (17, 15, and 9) and a married daughter (20).

 

Sunday, November 28th: Rev. Philip Botts— Philip Botts is an active duty sailor stationed at NAS Oceana. He has been in ministry since 2008 at several different churches and roles.

Philip is married and has three children.   He  is also the Director & Lead Evangelist at Philip Botts Ministries.

 

Sunday, December 5th: Nat Atkinson— Nat and his wife, Susie, have been married for 40 years and have 2 sons and 5 grand-children.  They came to Hollies BC in 2012 and were baptized in Nandua Creek.  Nat runs Foxy Lady Fishing Charters out of Wachapreague.  He serves as a Deacon, a Teller, he’s on the Finance Team and is on the Cemetery Committee.  He’s also a true “Fisher of Men”.

 

Sunday, December 12th:  Dr.  Lynn Hardaway – Dr. Lynn Hardaway is married to Maureen Tarpey Hardaway; they live in Chesapeake and have four children, one stepson who is a pastor, and twelve grandchildren.  Lynn pastored three congregations in the Tidewater area from 1982-2012 and currently serves as the bi-vocational pastor of Blackwater Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. 

Lynn joined the Bridge Network of Churches staff in January 2013 as Church Health Missionary, succeeding Roy Smith as the Network Missionary in October, 2015.  His doctorate from Liberty University is in Church Health and Evangelism and his passion in ministry is to encourage pastors and congregations in their efforts to fulfill the Great Commission in the midst of a changing culture.

 

Sunday, December 19th:  Paul Martin—Paul Martin has a Bachelor’s in Education and serves as a teacher and a coach to both boys and girls in Christian High Schools.  He served in Children’s Ministries, till he graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina and then served as Senior Pastor of Fairview Heights Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia for nine years.

Paul has been married to his beautiful bride, Melody, for 26 years.  Together they have built a home for four children, Grant, 22, Claire 20, Layne, 18, and Jack, 17.  Melody is currently serving as a 3rd grade teacher at StoneBridge School in Chesapeake, Virginia.

 

Sunday, December 26th:  Chuck Duer—Chuck joined Hollies in 2003.  He serves as a Trustee, is our Sunday School Director and teaches the Youth Class.  He’s also in charge of our Prayer Ministry, and serves on the Nominating Committee, on our Building & Grounds Committee and he is a Teller.  He always has something interesting to share from the Bible.
